How STEINBAUER works

More performance through precise fuel-injection control.

A STEINBAUER module works with the original engine management system and adjusts the duration of the injection signal on a diesel engine. The required additional fuel is introduced at the end of the existing injection event, rather than by altering factory injection timing.

Because the original ECU software is not rewritten, the engine management system continues to supervise its normal operating limits, safety parameters and protection strategies.

STEINBAUER also avoids increasing common-rail pressure. This provides a controlled, removable alternative to a permanent ECU remap.

Diesel engine operation only

Variable injection-duration control

On compatible diesel applications, STEINBAUER leaves the injection event completely standard at lower engine demand. From around 70% engine load, the module begins to progressively extend the main injection duration as demand increases. The original ECU remains in control of injection timing, while pre-injection and post-injection signals remain unchanged.
